Morning thoughts: How the media terrorise us

Promptly after the Paris attacks German media – and I think other media around the world, too – started with non-stop news, mainly producing headlines without any content worth to write about. We criticised that already (see here, here [english] and here). Now one of the main empty news machines, Spiegel online (others like “Die Welt” are not better, perhaps even worse), had to admit that their news were not only empty but wrong.

First, the media was panicing on a bomb or bomb dummy in a train in the northern German city Hannover. Now it turned out, that the bomb or bomb dummy are some electronic parts an engineer accidentally left in the train (see here). However, how many people read that message and how many people read the panic message before. Isn´t that terror, too?

Second, the media was full of the so called first women in the whole world blowing herself up. They wrote and wrote and wrote about that women. Then it turned out that the suicide bomber was a man (see here). For some perhaps even a gender issue, for me its terror by the media?

Perhaps we should start discussing our sacred “values” on which the same media and politicians, too, proudly refer to at this point.
