Vorschau: Kohls wirtschaftspolitisches Vermächtnis
Bundeskanzler Kohl ist gestorben – und wird gefeiert. In vielerlei Hinsicht vielleicht gar nicht zu Unrecht. In den Mittelpunkt werden dabei seine Verdienste um die deutsche Vereinigung und die Vertiefung des europäischen Einigungsprozesses gestellt. Aus wirtschaftspolitischer Sicht müsste sich indes der Blick auf ein Phänomen lenken, das möglicherweise ein Vermächtnis von Kohl offenbart, das insbesondere eine Erkenntnis auch für die heutige Wirtschaftspolitik bereit hält. Hätte Kohl selbst die Lehre daraus frühzeitig erkannt, wäre er vielleicht nicht von Gerhard Schröder abgelöst worden und, selbst wenn, hätte die Sozialdemokratie möglicherweise einen anderen wirtschaftspolitischen Kurs eingeschlagen und nicht den, von dem sie sich bis heute nicht erholt hat.
